If you’re visiting El Salvador for the first time, you might be wondering what there is to do in the capital. The truth is there’s more here than most people expect.

Oscar and I have spent time exploring the city ourselves, and this list of the best things to do in San Salvador is based on personal visits, trusted reviews, and what truly makes the city special. From historic landmarks to scenic viewpoints, San Salvador blends culture, history, and adventure in a way that feels authentic and still undiscovered.

One thing we always recommend – Book a guided tour. Traffic in San Salvador can be overwhelming, and navigating parking or directions can take away from your experience. Tours make it easy to see more in less time and learn the story behind each place.
